Biography
Jackie Li has a passion for advocating for the underdogs – the people who might otherwise be treated unfairly, who are unfamiliar with their rights and with the legal system, and who deserve a second chance. She brings to her advocacy two decades of legal experience in a wide range of practice areas.
Jackie started her legal career practicing civil litigation. She then joined the U.S. Army as an active duty Judge Advocate out of a desire to provide legal support to deploying Soldiers, helping ensure they had one less thing to worry about back home. During her time as a Judge Advocate, Jackie served in multiple roles and in deployed environments. She has worked as a Trial Counsel prosecuting numerous cases, including charges of sexual assault, child pornography, drug use, fraternization, and senior military personnel misconduct. She has also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in federal magistrate court. After leaving active duty, Jackie became a U.S. Army Reserve Civil Affairs officer and deployed once again. Against her better judgment she also became Airborne qualified, meaning she jumped out of planes at a stage in life when most people know better.
Following her active duty military service, Jackie worked as an assistant solicitor in South Carolina for several years. She prosecuted hundreds of cases, including cases involving charges of murder, armed robbery, kidnapping, drug trafficking, sexual assault, and domestic violence.
Jackie is admitted to practice in South Carolina and before the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina.
